I hear them say that when teams tend to use the short pass and rely on yards after the catch. Other than that I’m not so sure what it means.

4 to 5 wide recievers in formations and throwing the ball about 50 times a game.

They are talking about the offense system/philosophy that Bill Wash started with the 49ers in the eighties…The system requires the quarterback to be the focal point…The running back is used alot out of the backfield as a catcher….Lots of nfl teams had adopted this system.. 4 winning superbowl teams with the 49ers and people will notice….

The term is used to refer to a style of offense that uses short to intermediate passes that are more likely to be completed. When you look at teams that use the West Coast offense, their quarterbacks tend to have a high completion percentage. Usually somewhere in the mid to upper 60′s.

its a type of offense that was created by coach Urban Meyer when he use to coach Bowling Green. He had a horrible QB so he made new scheme where the Qb could run out of the pocket for quick yards or throw for about 5-15 yards. Its the type the Atlanta falcons use to help build on Micheal Vick’s strengths.

It is an offense that is used by a team that lacks in good linemen, consists of putting a ton recievers on the field to spread the defense and throwing short passes so that the line does not have to protect as long, essentially making these short passes there running game.
